We are delighted to welcome you to our school website! At Loanhead Primary, our vision is to be a small school with a big heart, nurturing growth and ambition so every child achieves their best.

Loanhead Primary is a non-denominational, co-educational school providing education from Nursery to Primary 7. We serve families from Loanhead and parts of Straiton, within the Midlothian Council area.

We are proud to be a small school with a big heart, where relationships, inclusion and a strong sense of community are at the centre of everything we do.

We currently have around 146 learners in our mainstream classes, alongside 40 full-time nursery places. Our school also includes a Learning Provision with 18 spaces, supporting learners with a range of additional needs as part of our inclusive school community.

From August 2026, Loanhead Primary School is part of the Beeslack High School Associated Schools Group (ASG), alongside Bilston, Roslin and Paradykes Primary Schools. We work collaboratively with our partner schools to support learning, improvement and positive transitions for our children and young people.

Our Vision, Values and Aims

Our vision, values, and aims were proudly co-created in partnership with our entire school community—including our fantastic pupils, dedicated staff, and supportive parents and carers. Together, we have shaped a shared path forward for our school.
